Pete's® Chicken-N-More Appearance Standards

All employees are required to adhere to the following appearance standards.

Uniforms

As a professional organization, we expect all of our employees to appear each day in proper uniform. Uniforms must be clean and neat at all times. Upon the arrival of reporting to work, if the manager/franchise owner observes that an employee's appearance in uniform does not meet the Pete's® Chicken-N-More image, a cap, shirt, hairnet, or nametag will be provided at the employee's expense.

Please note the appropriate attire for the various positions:

Front Counter Attendants / Drive Thru Attendants:

The proper uniform consists of a Pete's® Chicken-N-More collared logo shirt with khaki slacks. Shirts should be tucked in and a black belt should be worn. A Pete's® Chicken-N-More logo cap, nametag, and black shoes are required. *Rolled up shirts and pants will not be allowed.

Line Cooks / Kitchen Prep / Breaders:

The proper uniform consists of a Pete's® Chicken-N-More logo shirt with khaki slacks. Shirts should be tucked in and a black belt should be worn. A Pete's® Chicken-N-More logo cap, nametag, and black shoes are required. *Rolled up shirts and pants will not be allowed.

Managers:

The proper uniform consists of a Pete's® Chicken-N-More collared logo shirt with slacks. Shirts should be tucked in and a belt should be worn. Black or brown belts and shoes are acceptable.

Name Tags

We are a first name organization. All employees have been issued a nametag, which should be worn with pride in an upright readable position. Since nametags are an important part of the uniform, they must always be visible and should be worn on the left side of your shirt.

While on duty, your Pete's® Chicken-N-More nametag is to be worn at all times. If an employee reports to work without a nametag, they must obtain a temporary nametag from the manager. This nametag should be returned after working their shift.

If a nametag is lost due to employee negligence, replacement cost will be charged to the employee. If your nametag becomes soiled due to normal wear and tear, your manager will provide a free replacement.

Caps

The only caps and visors that can be worn are those provided by Pete's® Chicken-N-More. These caps and visors will have the Pete's® Chicken-N-More logo. Check with your manager for proper positioning of caps or visors. Caps will not be allowed to be worn backwards. Women may opt to wear a visor. If this is the case, a hair net must be worn with the visor.

Footwear

Black closed toe shoes are required. Socks must be worn with shoes. Shoes must be clean and well maintained to present a neat appearance. It is highly recommended that slip resistant shoes be worn as a safety precaution. Shoes can be ordered from Shoes for Crews and the company will allow the employee to break up the cost of shoes into 2 payments. If an employee chooses not to obtain slip resistant shoes, they will be required to sign a waiver stating they opted not to purchase shoes.

Hair Styling

The following are the Pete's® Chicken-N-More Image standards for hairstyles:

  • Hair should be neatly combed and arranged in an attractive, classic, easy to maintain style
  • Neat cut and tapered so that it does not extend beyond or cover any part of the ears.
  • Hair must not stick out over the shirt collar.

Hair products may be used to create a soft, natural hairstyle within these guidelines.

Appropriate hair confinement should be used in food service areas where required by law.

Hair Coloring

The Pete's® Chicken-N-More image does not include extremes in dyeing, bleaching, or coloring. If the hair color is changed, it must be well maintained and a natural looking color.

Mustaches and Beards

Beards are unacceptable.

Mustaches are permitted, but must be neatly trimmed and not present a bushy or unkempt appearance. Mustaches must not extend onto or above the upper lip and should extend to the corners of the mouth, but not beyond or below the corners. Mustaches must be fully grown on the employees hire date or must be fully grown during vacation or other non-working periods. No exceptions.

Fingernails

Clean, presentable fingernails are a must. Nail polish and the use of fake nails, or tips are prohibited. The Health Department regulates this standard and Pete's® Chicken-N-More will adhere to this policy. We are looking out for the best interest of our customers and want to ensure that we do not have any fake nails show up in someone's food.

After Shave and Deodorant

Due to close contact with customers and fellow employees, the use of an anti-perspirant or deodorant is required. For the same reasons, the use of strong, heavy scents and fragrances is discouraged. If you choose to wear a scent or frangrance product, please be considerate of others and select a light, mild scent.

Jewelry

Small rings, class rings, wedding sets, are allowed. You may wear one small ring per hand on any finger. A business style wristwatch is permitted. Men may not report to work with studs in their ears. Women may wear a single earring in each ear. It must be a simple, matched pair in gold, silver, or a color that blends with the uniform. The shape of the earring must be in good taste and complement the uniform. Earrings must be worm on the bottom of the earlobe. Studs or short hoops are acceptable. Any other visible body piercing is unacceptable, ie: tongue, nose, eyebrow rings, etc.

Makeup

It is Pete's® Chicken-N-More policy to encourage the use of makeup within the standards set forth in this policy to enhance natural features and create a fresh, natural appearance. The colors acceptable are shades that are in a complementary tone to your natural color. Lipstick should be applied to complement your appearance and uniform. Black, purple, or very dark shades are not acceptable.

It is our expectation that all hired personnel will adhere to this policy. This uniform policy has been set forth to establish uniformity amongst all stores, to exhibit team work, and to provide our customers with a clean, professional image. As the Pete's® Chicken-N-More organization grows, we want the public to identify Pete's® as a leader in offering our customers great service with the friendliest staff.
